Six Things You Need to Know About Flyover in Las Vegas

Las Vegas tends to do things big. And now, Flyover is applying that same philosophy to its must-see attraction right on the Strip — Flyover in Las Vegas.

Flyover’s latest location offers a never-before-seen aerial perspective above some of the United States’ most legendary locations aboard its signature Wonders of the American West flight ride. Here’s what you need to know about Flyover in Las Vegas and Wonders of the American West ahead of your visit.

Where You’ll Fly

Presented in dazzling 8K high definition on a 52.5-foot wide spherical screen, Wonders of the American West (formerly The Real Wild West) transports riders to iconic destinations as they’ve never been seen before. The production is the latest by visionary creative director and “founding father of flight rides” Rick Rothschild, along with Cannes Lion Award-winning director Dave Mossop.

Expect to touch the virtual skies of Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Montana, California, Arizona, New Mexico and Utah on the journey. Along the way, you’ll catch glimpses of galloping horses, volcanic peaks, crashing waves, and much more.

What You’ll Hear

The team at Flyover is well aware that an experience of this caliber needs an equally epic soundtrack. Celebrated composer Junkie XL — aka Tom Holkenborg — created just that for Wonders of the American West.

While creating a Flyover show is unlike any other art form, Holkenborg is well acquainted with composing for adventure. The Grammy-nominated artist has lent his talents to scores for Justice League, Mad Max: Fury Road, Deadpool and Godzilla vs Kong among other blockbuster credits.

How We’ll Get You There

The venue that houses Flyover’s two theaters was meticulously designed to transport you. Renowned multimedia studio Moment Factory created much of the space leading up to the theaters as well as the pre-show, helping to set the tone and offer a taste of the adventure to come.

Looking to fuel up before your flight or trade favorite moments with your fellow fliers afterwards? Stop by The Lost Cactus for a cocktail or a snack — a canyon-inspired bar and lounge that keeps the immersive vibe going.

What You’ll Feel

Flyover creates an unmistakable feeling of flight that goes a lot further than just the visuals. As your feet dangle over the seats of the chairlift-style platform, state-of-the-art movement technology mimics every second of action over panoramic scenes of the west — achieved by filming with a helicopter-mounted camera.

Movement, however, is just the start. Riders will be misted above northern California waves, feel the winds as they dive into the Grand Canyon and hear the rhythmic gallop of stallions in Yellowstone, while also smelling location-specific scents to complete the multi-sensory immersion.

Where It All Happens

Flyover has a killer location on the iconic Strip, right beside the Hard Rock Cafe and across the street from Park MGM. Once you enter Flyover, however, the bustle of one of the country’s most iconic streets gives way to total immersion. Expect to spend about an hour at FlyOver, with the opportunity to grab a drink, bite and a souvenir as you escape into the experience.

Where to Next

The opportunity to explore doesn’t end with Wonders of the American West. As the first Flyover location with two separate flight ride theaters, Flyover in Las Vegas can accommodate three different experiences at any given time. Book another flight ride above the otherworldly beauty of Iceland or soar over the summits with Windborne: Call of the Canadian Rockies. Better yet, ride all three!
